I have always wondered…… Is being fat ugly ? I personally don’t think so. I have a lot of friends who are…er…chubby. Yes, that’s the word ! They are wonderful people who seem to be happy always, without a care in the world.
Does their size have a direct bearing on their temperament ? Honestly, I don’t know. But, as I know that my chubby friends would like to become slim and trim (who doesn’t?), I thought that it is worth talking about.
A person is ideally supposed to have his weight proportionate to his height. But, when it is not, something needs to be done to shed off those extra pounds. Anyway, we need to take action for health reasons, if nothing else.
So how does one put on extra weight ? Some people say that it is the result of overeating while others say it is caused by the fat content of the food. Another theory points to lack of exercise to burn up all the extra fat that we consume. Oh, let’s not forget the hereditary theory where we get to happily blame our ancestors for our condition.
If we consume more than what our body needs, we tend to put on weight. What happens is that the surplus energy gets stored in our body, usually as fat. Even small amounts of surplus energy each day can lead to weight gain over a period of time.
So here’s some good advice from some weight loss gurus, if they can be called that.
- Eat only as much food as you need.
- Ensure a balanced diet containing all the essential nutrients
- Exercise daily and if you have a medical condition, do it under your
Doctor’s supervision.
-Practise Yoga
