Having worked in the airline and travel industries for quite some time, I am tempted to write these few lines for the benefit of my readers.
Almost everyone travels abroad for their vacation and usually by air. Others may prefer to explore other areas of the country in which they are resident. You may travel alone, with your family, with friends, with your partner or with a group. There are literally thousands of places you could go to and find hundreds of activities which would contribute to your relaxation and enjoyment during your vacation.
Whatever it may be, for you to enjoy your vacation, it has to be reasonably hassle free. And it will be, if you plan and book very much in advance. Also, you will need to a pick a period when there is fair weather at your destination. Heavy rain, fog, blizzards, snowstorms, etc. can ruin your holiday. The internet is the best source of information for finding up to date information on weather that will span the course of your holiday travel.
Another trick to enjoy your holiday is to travel light, that is, to take only essential items of clothing and not your whole wardrobe.
If you are going to stay in a hotel, they may provide a number of items you need which you can eliminate from your luggage. Check with the hotel directly or visit their website for confirmation. Common items that you can leave behind include soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, a blow dryer, an iron, etc.
You would have to look for good vacation spots, decide where you want to go, plan your itinerary, make airline and hotel bookings, book leisure activities at your vacation destinations, compare prices, look for the best vacation packages and buy travel insurance.
You will see that there are places and activities to cater to every taste and temperament. For some people, an idea of an ideal vacation is just to get away from it all for a while, while others derive their enjoyment from the sights, the culture, activities, shopping and the cuisine.
It will be a good idea to read a popular travel guide about the places you plan to visit and if possible, arm yourself with a few local conversational phrases which may come in handy when you are there.
You would also want to make arrangements for your pet and plants (if you have them) to be looked after while you are away.
For travel arrangements, it would be a good idea to check out travel resources, compare benefits and prices and make a final decision.
